Job Description

The role
In this unique and exciting new role you will be working at the heart of the organisation supporting local councillors and the corporate centre, carrying out business administration and helping with the smooth running of meetings. An important element of your work will be supporting the organisation in its response to and recovery from the Covid 19 pandemic.

You will spend half of your time working in the Executive Support Office, a small group of staff who provide PA support to the Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Team, and the other half of your time working in the scrutiny team, supporting scrutiny meetings and councillors.

You will take on a range of business support responsibilities and help manage meetings and events, prepare briefing notes, take minutes and use Microsoft Teams software. You will ensure high levels of customer service at all times.


What we’re looking for

To be the Business Support and Meeting Administration Apprentice you will need to be a Lewisham resident who is highly organised and adaptable. You will need to be over 18 and comfortable working in a political environment, working directly with elected politicians. You will need to have the ability to balance a demanding workload with fixed deadlines with good attention to detail. Please note that some meetings take place in the evening and you will be given time of in lieu in return for your attendance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Be over the age of 18 (there is no upper age limit) • Be a Lewisham borough resident (the electoral register will be used to verify this information) • Be able to work in the evening occasionally • Have full residency entitlement, there must be no restrictions on your status in the UK (all successful candidates will need to produce their passport once a job offer is made) • Have the minimum number of qualifications required as stated in the relevant job description (all potential applicants will be expected to attend an initial assessment session).
