Job Description

To work on a wide range of project types from public and private sectors that involve all types of utility and building services work. Whilst experience in gas and water utility networks is essential, there will be an opportunity to train and develop working with colleagues on electrical, renewables, district heating and other emerging energy markets.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical designs for estimating, design approval and construction of multi-utility installations.
  • Assess designs and provide engineering improvements and solutions ensuring compliance with the appropriate standards and legislation.
  • Attend meetings with project teams, adopting asset owners and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit applications to adopting asset owners and manage processes to gain approvals.
  • Update drawings with changes and capture as-laid information on completion.
  • Estimating costs and writing quotations for tender submissions.
  • Work closely with operational colleagues to assist with delivery of projects.
  • Carry out site visits to meet with clients, stakeholders and operational teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum 2 years’ experience in design of gas and water utilities. Competent user of AutoCAD to develop and produce utility designs. Good understanding of legislation, codes of practice and industry standards. HNC in an engineering or design discipline OR an SVQ in a utility network design is desirable. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Motivated and proactive individual able to work independently or part of a team in a dynamic environment. Full drivers’ license with access to car is preferable.
