Job Description

The main purpose of this role is to provide health, safety and environmental advice (HSEA), mentorship and support to all locally based project teams and functional sites of work. The role includes engaging with key partners to ensure that works are planned and managed safely. You will support the delivery of a range of projects across Scotland's rail infrastructure

The key to success in this role will be your ability to develop good working relationships with various partners, managing their expectations while supporting their needs. A solid understanding of the Construction Design Management Regulations will allow you to support project delivery from early design, through the construction phase to completion.

Dynamic and highly customer focused, you’re self-motivated too, while your outstanding communication and presentation skills enable you to influence people at all levels. Above all your genuine passion towards helping to build a safe, world-class railway infrastructure will be key to successfully delivering this role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provision of advice and guidance to staff regarding health, safety, assurance and environmental matters within their geographical scope.
  • To carry out risk based inspections of the function’s worksites and sites where the function’s activities take place.
  • To support Line Management in compliance with the Company Accident & Investigation process and assist where required in the collation of evidence.
  • To support Line Management in undertaking Work Activity Risk Assessments, Line Management Checks, Line Management Tours etc.
  • To provide support to the Regional/Programme/Major Projects teams in the collation of workforce health, safety and environmental data.
  • To manage the assessment and development of the safety and environmental aspects of supplier contract documentation where relevant.
