Job Description

Our team in Scotland are part of a strong bridges and civil structures capability across the UK with a significant pool of expertise and experience working across a wide variety of projects Scotland has been one of our largest areas of growth in recent years, and we are keen to continue that trend.

As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you will focus on technical and managerial lead and delivery of highway and railway bridges, as well as other civil structures projects, varying in size and complexity across Scotland under the Scotland Excel Framework.

You will lead junior staff members and provide technical support to the Associates and Director, ensuring successful delivery of projects to timescale and budget. You will liaise with the internal and external clients and design teams on projects and be involved in the delivery and management of successful and timely outcomes.

The trend in project work undertaken in Scotland is towards larger, multidisciplinary projects with ample opportunity for collaboration with various teams across the UK. As we continue to grow and exploit this will provide opportunities for both us as a business, but also you personally.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You’ll be an experienced Bridge Engineer with a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, with excellent technical knowledge and capability in design, assessment and construction of bridges and civil structures, along with strong project management skills covering a complete project life cycle from project initiation, feasibility study, detailed design and construction. You’ll embrace the opportunity to lead, manage and mentor junior colleagues around you. You’ll also display: Good working knowledge of LUSAS and/or MIDAS; Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail Standards. Experience in preparing and reviewing technical documents, e.g. Technical Notes, Approval in Principle documents, Feasibility Study Reports, Assessment Reports, etc.; Experience of liaising with and managing stakeholders, contractors and clients; Site support/ supervision experience; Experience of carrying out and managing all types of structural inspections; Experience of preparing and supporting Bids; Railway related experience (desirable) You’ll ideally be chartered with ICE and/ or IStructE, but if not then we’d be happy to support you achieve this.
