Job Description

We are seeking to grow and strengthen our offering into 2021 to support a strong order book and so require a highly motivated individual who is keen to advance their career working as part of a growing, successful team.

A typical week would include:

  • Being active on a number of projects/client accounts at any given time - making the workload interesting and challenging
  • Supporting the role of senior staff in managing transport planning projects through managing and delivering projects and packages
  • Working as part of a team, including the delegation and monitoring of tasks to early career professionals
  • Attending internal & external client meetings
  • Having client contact and building client relationships through excellent delivery
  • Working in a large multi-disciplinary office with access to a range of people at a similar career stage across a variety of fields
  • Helping coach and mentor the annual intake of new graduates and apprentices into the team
  • Assisting with writing tender submissions and pursuing business development opportunities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience as a Transport Planner or in a similar role in the UK. A Bachelor’s degree in a related subject. A Master’s degree in transport would be desirable, but not essential – we are looking for people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Experience in one of more of the following areas: Active travel scheme development and appraisal. Public transport scheme development and policy at local, regional and national level. Transport assessments and travel planning. Stakeholder engagement and consultation strategies. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations and report-writing. Strong team player who has an enthusiastic and motivated attitude. Demonstrable client facing experience. Demonstrable project management experience, including resources, budgets, programmes. Well organized, with a structured approach to the delivery of tasks, with an ability to adapt to a varied workload within a fast-changing environment. Experience working in the Scottish transport planning market, including awareness of the policy context and experience in the application of national guidance.
