Job Description

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support Director of Finance & Audit and Chief Financial Officer in their roles as a member of the MCA Board and the Executive Team.
  • Gain an in-depth, detailed knowledge of the Blue Light Technical Transformation Programme.
  • To work closely with other Finance Business Partners, Programme Manager and other key stakeholders to identify opportunities for analysis and modelling of financial and non-financial data.
  • Work alongside Directors, Deputy Directors, Programme Mangers and their teams, at all levels, on corporate plans, medium term financial planning, Government Spending Reviews, annual budgeting and monthly forecasting. To provide sufficient challenge to management to ensure data is realistic and achievable, and that data is provided according to prescribed timescales.
  • Support the Director of Finance & Audit, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Finance Business Partner in the delivery of departmental budgeting processes.
  • Identify emerging financial pressures, risks and opportunities for savings, ensuring mitigation planning and appropriate reporting to management boards.
  • Work closely with Financial Accounts Team, the Technical Accountant and the other Finance Business Partners to ensure the MCA meets its annual reporting obligations.
  • Support the Senior Finance Business Partner with costing analysis to ensure full cost recovery of all fee rates
  • Take the lead for the BLTT Programme on financial elements of business cases for spend approvals and support with procurement evaluations when required Provide finance training and guidance to all levels of staff as and when required
  • Keep abreast of accounting developments to ensure continuous professional development is ongoing and up to date
  • ad hoc tasks as required within the MCA

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualified or part qualified CCAB or equivalent or CIMA. You are a qualified or part qualified accountant with previous experience in a Finance Business Partner role, you’re looking for a role where you can build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders whilst offering them support with financial management and reporting commitments. You have the innate ability to read data, this coupled with your interpersonal skills you gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of your business area. You are confident and will challenge budget and forecasting assumption when required. Your communication skills and financial expertise ensure your stakeholders are always given concise, clear direction and explanations that will enable them to better understand the rationale behind decisions made and make choices in the best interests of the organization overall.
