Job Description

The purpose of the Internal Auditor is to provide professional and consistent review on internal SHEQ management systems against internal and external requirements, supporting company compliance and continual improvement.

The auditor would need to build strong links with teams throughout the business, taking a practical approach to understand operational constraints and ensure internal auditing adds value and supports the business to achieve the right outcome. The individual would manage and develop the internal audit programme to ensure regular reviews and audits measure company performance and compliance against the Business Management System and that best practice is promoted across the R&W Group. In leading audits, the individual will need to be impartial in fact finding and confident in presenting to senior managers and clients.

Role Management

  • Carry out regular internal audits against internal and external requirements including The R&W Way, Business Management System, Client, Industry and Legislative requirements
  • Plan and conduct company internal audits through a risk-based approach that delivers business assurance and continual improvement
  • Promote best practice across the R&W Group through strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Support company external audits with Clients and certification bodies.

Role Leadership

  • Effectively support business risk through manage changing workload and conflicting priorities
  • Challenge and work with teams to overcome conflicting demands
  • Promote the R&W Way values across the company & be a role model.

Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Management

  • Take responsibility and practice health, safety and environmental processes on site
  • Participate in the promotion of SHEQ programmes and schemes that we or our clients run and disseminate this information within the R&W Group where applicable
  • Ensure R&W and those working with us comply with current health, safety and environmental legislation, industry and R&W standards and approved codes of practice, including Sector Schemes.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Lead Auditor Qualification/equivalent experience. Working knowledge and experience of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO and ISO 14001. Good knowledge of a wide range of current SHEQ best practice. Previous experience working in the highways and rail sectors including. National Highway Sector Schemes and RISQS. Well-developed written communication skills with excellent ability to maintain confidentiality. Able to demonstrate behaviors which embrace. Full Driving License. ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 44001 Training. Lean Awareness Training.
