A new opportunity is now available for an Accountant within an Aerospace and Defence company; BAE Systems. You will be required to support the financial control and reporting of transactional services within Europe & International business unit. Identifying process improvements and implementing them with buy in from stakeholders. Supporting the Assistant Accountants with debt recovery and reporting and supporting the Senior Accountant with more technical pieces of work.

Responsibilities

This role provides and supervises financial accounting services to the business.
Duties include:
Operational / Transactional:
Posting of corrective transactions linked to currency reconciliations / analysis
Posting of corrective transactions linked to Accounts Receivable reconciliations / analysis
Supporting other teams within Financial Accounting, including Treasury, Operational activities.

Business Partnering:
Facilitating Debtor & Creditor reviews with business including co-ordinating with Financial Accounting Operational team, Project Accounting teams and relevant Commercial and/or Procurement teams where appropriate.
Supporting Project Accounting teams with project set up and closure to ensure financial accounting transactions are correct during contract lifecycle.
Managing other stakeholder requirements with Project Accounting teams.

Reconciliation & Control:
Completing / reviewing all Currency related reconciliations / activities, including Day 1 Currency, VAT Currency reconciliations & Surplus currency to support Treasury requirements
Completing / reviewing all Accounts Receivable related reconciliations
Producing / reviewing monthly aged debtors reports and analysis
Managing credit control activities for E&I customers
Clearing of aged debtor items
Producing Financial Accounting team KPI reports
Implementing process changes to fix recurring reconciling items at source
Compliance with COSA and support to internal and external audits where required
Supporting other teams within Financial Accounting, including Treasury, Operational activities.

Team Management:
Managing team of 3 direct reports
Managing Financial Accounting Year 1 FLDP including full support to development activities.
Supporting own team and other employees on Accounts Receivable related matters.
Ensuring relevant training / experience within team such that critical tasks can be covered during all periods of year.
Acting as second in command to Senior Accountant, Financial Accounts Reporting & Control, including deputising where appropriate and leading team during required periods (ie holiday cover).

The Individual

Must be part-qualified accountant, ACCA / CIMA

The candidate must have excellent Microsoft Office Excel and good with Microsoft Office Word, Powerpoint and Outlook
Communication, Team working, and Motivation are essential
