Job Description

To develop and extend the functionality of the organisations bespoke business systems including, but not limited to, Purchasing, Warehousing, Logistics, Marketing, Customer Services, HR and Finance, with a particular focus on larger, high-value enhancements and projects.

You will play an integral role in the implementation of enhancements to our enterprise level business system. Designing and developing APIs to communicate between the different business systems. Utilise your communication skills enabling you to take on requirements, understand the underlying data and work alongside the teams across the whole business to spearhead enhancements.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills are required alongside very good attention to detail.
Experience of working with bespoke warehouse/logistics or accounting systems, preferably written in PHP, will be essential.

• Deliver best-in-class PHP solutions across a broad array of software projects.
• Building and implementing new features but also extending and supporting current bespoke systems.
• Bringing legacy code up to date and improving its performance in the process.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Solid experience in MVC (Laravel, Zend Framework). • Micro frameworks, such as Zend Expressive or Lumen for REST APIs. • Ability to write clean PHP Object Orientated code. • Very strong in designing and developing APIs (RESTful). • Ability to rewrite legacy code to make it faster, lighter and more extensible. • Database design / optimisation (MySQL, MariaDB, Amazon Aurora). • Caching (Redis, Memcached). • Experience with test-driven development. • Knowledge of Git, Composer, Docker, code repositories (Beanstalk App, GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure Repos). • Good understanding of security practices. • An active interest in current / new technologies, to offer alternative solutions and tools to enhance applications. • Ability to listen and understand complex business problems and translate into quality solutions.
