Job Description

The role

The successful candidate will provide senior level accounting expertise, working with the Management Accountant and Finance Operations Manager to support the Head of Finance in the pursuit of profitable performance and regulatory compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide specialist technical knowledge and expertise to the team and wider firm
  • Proactively keep up to date with accounting standards, new developments, system enhancements and alternative solutions
  • Maintain best practice for financial data maintenance and management
  • Oversee the month end/year end close processes and reconcile balances across reporting systems
  • Recommend and develop appropriate reports, based on knowledge of the firm and future business needs
  • Continuous development of the accounting and reporting function

You will support the Head of Finance to:

  • Maintain relationships with banks and compliance with covenants
  • Deliver annual busines budgets and forecasts
  • Set fee earner targets
  • Prepare detailed regular cash flow forecasts
  • Manage expenditure and authorise payments
  • Co-ordinate with the Firm’s Tax advisors
  • Manage and develop the firm’s financial and management information systems
  • Ensure financial/operating procedures comply with the SRA Accounts Rules, Money Laundering Regulations. GDPR and other legislation

You will oversee the Management Accounting team to:

  • Maintain accounting records for the LLP, the preparation of monthly management accounts including variance analyses, quarterly balance sheets and statistical analyses of the LLP’s financial performance
  • Produce Financial reporting

What they are looking for

  • Must be a qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • At least 5 years’ experience within a professional services environment, legal experience would be a distinct advantage
  • Accustomed to dealing with clients, partners, fee earners and other support staff at all levels
  • Accustomed to dealing with external parties, often at a senior level and in difficult circumstances
  • Delivering work to tight deadlines and the ability to demonstrate confidentiality and integrity
  • Strong IT skills
  • Methodical, accurate and well organised
