Job Description

Be part of an award nominated Audit team offering great experience, development opportunities and work-life balance in a top 40 Accountancy firm.

1. Main function of job (Note: in addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Audit senior / supervisor reporting to audit managers and partners and supervising more junior members of the audit team.

2. Main duties

This is a split role working on 70% audits and 30% accounts.

Planning, supervising, and carrying out audits with turnover up to £80 million, including specialist audits e.g. FCA, pensions, solicitors, and charities. Jobs to be completed from planning through to completion with minimal supervision, to deadlines and within budget.

Supervision and assisting junior staff with technical accounting and auditing problems

Preparation of draft corporation tax computations

Preparation of draft statutory and consolidated accounts under FRS102, FRS105, and IFRS from clients’ draft figures

Drafting points for partner and recommendations to management following audit fieldwork completion.

Preparing responses for group reporting for clients where we are the component auditor.

Larger accounts preparation jobs for audit exempt limited companies, partnerships, and LLPs

3. Software knowledge

Use of computer packages including Proaudit, CCH Accounts Production (AP), Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, and Alphatax would be desirable. Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.

4. Qualifications / education required

ACA or ACCA qualified (degree not essential)

5. Experience required

Qualified audit senior with experience in a top 60 practice, having had both audit and accounts experience throughout their career to date.

6. Particular aptitudes/ skills required

As well as being able to prepare completed audit files for a large variety of clients to a high standard with minimal guidance from manager, the applicant should be a good communicator and be able to deal confidently and effectively with both clients and staff alike.  They should be able to cope with both pure audits and with jobs where the records are not straightforward and should be able to work within deadlines and budgets.
