Job Description
  • Prepare the tax numbers for inclusion in the financial statements.

  • Maintain and develop internal controls, accounting systems and reporting processes for effective tax decision making;

  • Management of benefit in kind process

  • Ensure effective processes are in place to facilitate the deduction of employee taxes

  • Management of the onboarding of new suppliers to ensure no conflict in relation to ‘subcontractor v employee’

  • Oversight of Relevant Contract Tax process

  • Reconciliation of tax balance sheet accounts

  • Ensure VAT rates are charged and recovered at appropriate rates

  • Provide technical advice and guidance to Senior Management.

  • To promote tax awareness, targeting senior management.

Management of external and internal stakeholders

  • Liaise with the Revenue Commissioners on returns and queries.

  • To educate and support local staff on tax matters.

  • Liaise with foreign tax authorities when required

  • Provide sound tax analysis to aid decision making.

  • Liaise with external auditors on tax queries.

  • Keep up to date with legislation to ensure any changes are communicated and rolled out to the business

  • Liaise with group tax and the financial shared service centre on any tax matters.

 

 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrable post qualification tax experience;

  • Good working knowledge of current tax legislation

  • Experience of implementation of effective tax processes and procedures

  • Production of statutory accounts;

  • High levels of personal effectiveness, particularly in communication, organisation, and the ability to focus on achieving deadlines.

  • Educational Requirements/Qualifications

  • ACA / CIMA / ACCA fully qualified accountant, preferably with 1st time passes.

  • Must hold a relevant tax qualification – CTA, AITA

  • Knowledge of all aspects of a tax function

  • Extensive knowledge of excel and various finance and payroll systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication – articulate, confident and engaging with the ability to nurture and maintain successful working relationships with employees at all levels of the business and with external stakeholders.

  • Comfortable with working in a demanding environment.

  • Self-motivated

  • Strong influencing skills, especially at Senior Management level.

  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage conflicting and changing priorities.

  • Ability to plan, prioritise and work to tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative with minimum supervision.
