Job Description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated candidate who is able to support Senior Managers and Consultants. This rewarding position will involve regular communication and co-ordination with other departments within the Trust and also within the wider NHS environment, therefore you should be able to demonstrate that you can successfully manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
The post holder will have responsibility for co-ordination of the consultant’s clinics, electronic diaries, and will (at times) be the first point of contact for the department, hence a professional approach, excellent telephone manner and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as within a team environment is an essential requirement. You will also have an understanding of the needs and demands of liaising with members of the general public and be able to demonstrate that you can remain calm under pressure.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively to deliver a high-quality and efficient administrative service with the ability to work accurately whilst meeting deadlines. The post holder needs to possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to remain calm in a busy environment. Commitment to making a difference in our patients’ journey is also essential.Candidates should possess an adequate level of education, previous secretarial experience and be proficient in typing at RSA level III or equivalent, as per the person specification. This is a varied post with no two days being alike therefore the ideal candidate will have experience of working within a busy environment, be able to multitask effectively and have solid problem-solving skills. Previous experience working within the NHS and/or Dental would be advantageous. The ideal post holder will have knowledge of medical terminology and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. A good working knowledge of EPR, D-scribe and PIMS, as well as NHS Mail will be advantageous, however not essential.
