Job Description

The Specialist Cargo Advisor is responsible for handling the day to day operations for key clients who require cargo which is not standard shipments (Tanks, Reefers, Out of Gauge and De-vans). The person will be driven with developing and maintaining excellent customer relations and acting as the focal operational contact to ensure the smooth transportation of the customer's cargo.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Provide quality customer service skills via telephone, email and face to face.
  • Complete all operational functions such as deliveries, collections, merchant own carrier requests within the necessary timeframes.
  • Customer satisfaction levels to be maintained/enhanced to ensure business is grown and cross-selling opportunities are created.
  • Deliver on customer specific KPI targets to keep high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of internal/external systems (including logistic platforms) and services, as well as legislation & maritime regulations.
  • Develop a good rapport with Trade, Overseas Agencies, Suppliers and Customers.
  • Attend off site meetings with customers for service review, and new customer integration.
  • Evolve and maintain customer relationships to ensure volume targets are met, by way of regular meetings/conference calls.
  • Build a good rapport with warehouses and have a strong understanding of standard practices of each of the suppliers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Background in Import/Export shipping, customer service, logistics (Preferred) Excellent communication and organisational skills Attention to detail Ability to thrive under pressure and remain calm Exceptional communication skills - Telephone, email etiquette and face to face Excellent organisational skills at operational level. Flexible to work out-of-hours when necessary/required. Responsibility for ensuring that local Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed in order to ensure own safety and the safety of others Shipping (Import/Export) / Freight Forwarding experience essential Adaptable to customer requirements. Innovative approach to problem solving. Team Player Cross-Docking/Warehouse/Reefer experience (Preferred) Self-motivated & organised
