Job Description

Duties:

  • With the assistance of a finance assistant take overall responsibility for the finance function
  • Input all financial controls, procedures and systems (currently on Xero) and continually improve and update financial management.
  • To produce accurate and timely management accounts reporting
  • Forecasting and Budgeting
  • VAT
  • Gift Aid/Charity/partial exemption experience desirable but not essential
  • Managing and negotiating all key contracts of the venue including utilities, communication, HR, H&S and IT contracts to ensure the best terms for the business, in collaboration with the Director
  • Managing and maintaining good relationships with clients and key suppliers
  • To support the Director to develop and deliver an annual fundraising strategy
  • Administer grant budgets, financial reporting and evaluation
  • Support the Director reapply for Arts Council England National Portfolio Status
  • Manage donations and Giftaid

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Qualified accountant, ideally ACCA, CIMA or equivalent • A minimum of three years professional experience including the preparation of management accounts and contribution to Board level strategic matters. • Thorough knowledge of financial systems, procedures and controls and ability to implement these in a busy finance department. • Advanced user of Microsoft Office suite of applications, particularly MS Excel • Good knowledge of cloud-based accounting (Xero or similar) • Experience of managing cash flow and cash flow reporting. • Experience of preparing VAT returns and other statutory returns. • Line management experience • Experience with the charitable or not for profit sector and meeting the statutory reporting requirements of a registered charity. • Strong communication skills
