Job Description

It is a busy and fast-growing Institute and is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to join the team to provide administrative support to the Institute and more specifically the research programme.

The Institute Administrator will be responsible for the provision of efficient, professional, and proactive administrative support. The role will be largely focused on supporting the research programme at the institute but will support other programmes where appropriate. The post holder will have responsibility for supporting the activities on research grants such as arranging meetings and taking notes, collating information for grant reporting deadlines, supporting staff expense claims, processing invoices, liaising with post-awards in Research and Innovation on upcoming financial deadlines, collating timesheets, track researcher annual leave, and support staff travel arrangements. The post holder will also be the first point of contact for the research programme at the institute and will direct queries as necessary.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates should have administrative experience with strong financial reporting skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communications skills with strong IT skills and evidence of the ability to work in an organized and accurate way within a team environment. We would welcome candidates who have an interest in social science research focused on Africa and engagement with African institutions. Fluency in French would be an asset.
