Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Practice Accounts Assistant looking to develop their skills within a small but busy working environment.

The Role:

Our client’s ideal candidate will be interested in helping the business to continue to develop, working under their own initiative and taking full responsibility for their client’s requirements.  The role will be office based and on site at client’s premises within the Halifax and surrounding areas.

You will be working with a wide range of clients from different sectors dealing with the preparation of their accounts. 

Since 2010, HBS has been working with a wide range of clients around Halifax providing Bookkeeping and Accountancy Services.

Essential Duties:

Preparation of accounts including:

  • Purchase ledger
  • Sales ledger
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Credit card reconciliation
  • Month end journals
  • VAT returns
  • CIS and Payroll
  • Payroll year end and reconciliation to trial balance
  • Assisting in preparing year end accounts for Limited Companies and Sole Traders

  • Experience in and energized by working to tight deadlines
  • Will be keen to work as part of a small team 
  • Will have worked in roles that demonstrate good relationship skills
  • Be personally responsible for own personal continuous professional development, ensuring they remain fully skilled and trained and effective in the post

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
They hold AAT or part ACCA qualifications Use of Sage Line 50, Sage Payroll and Excel together with excellent IT skills are essential, as is experience with MS Office Software.  Knowledge of Xero, Quickbooks, Sage One and Payroll Manager and experience within a practice environment would place candidates in an advantageous position.
