Job Description

The post is available immediately on a permanent, part-time basis (51.72%). The post holder will be required to work term-time only from 10.00am to 3.00pm on four days of the week and 10.00am to 2.30pm on one day of the week (with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break each day). There is flexibility on which day the earlier finish takes place and also around the start/finish times by half an hour. The hours may be adjusted each academic year to ensure coverage during the College day.

It is anticipated that the post holder will spend the majority of their time working specifically in the Careers area, but a flexible approach to working will be required according to demand and the time in the academic year.

The post requires commitment and excellent organizational skills. Previous experience of working within a careers or work experience environment is desirable, but not essential. The post holder will spend a significant amount of the working day in a busy office environment and will be required to handle phone calls from parents and interested parties, as well as face-to-face interactions with students.

The Department is housed in a specially designed area of the Enhancement Building, which includes an open plan area for discussion with students, a breakout area and a careers office for one-to-one interviews with students. The Department also has access to a lecture space for visiting speakers.

The post holder will work closely with the well-established Department of four other staff, who work closely as a team in a friendly and co-operative manner.
