Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Commercial Finance Manager will be responsible for improving operational performance by embedding a commercial performance focus in the operation and assisting the operational senior leadership team in identifying and implementing performance improvement. This is a high profile role with significant exposure to the senior leadership team across the business.

The Commercial Finance Manager will be responsible for embedding performance reporting throughout the operation to enable operational management to maximise commercial opportunities and drive improvements throughout the operation.  Responsibilities include:

• Work with the HODs to value engineer the operational processes to drive performance improvements.
• Develop and implement performance reporting that drives understanding and ownership and facilitates the identification of opportunities for improvement.
• Embed performance reporting throughout the organisation (tailored and targeted to suit the different stakeholders).
• Develop and implement operational MI that enables operational management to effectively manage cases and realise any benefits identified.
• Facilitate understanding of key business levers/profit drivers Including driving understanding of how to best influence.
• Create Focussed Performance Dashboards for business.
• Develop Streamlined and effective ways to assess business cases. Providing support and challenge to the senior leadership team in the development and appraisal of value adding opportunities and strategic projects.
• Facilitate strategic focus with Heads of providing analysis as needed.
• Help the Operations target activities that create the most value maximising ‘bang for buck’.
• Deliver timely, accurate and consistent MI which provides a lead indicator view and drives performance improvement.
• Possess a robust understanding of key business performance measures and develop operational strategies to leverage desirable outcomes.
• Distil and present financial data relevant to stakeholders at various levels including Board members.
• Ensure the Finance team deliver an excellent level of customer service.
• Perform to a high level in a target orientated environment.
• To undertake any other tasks as deemed relevant and reasonable by the business.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Recognised professional accountancy qualification - ACA, CIMA, ACCA Experience working in a similar commercial finance role and acting as a finance business partner Operational-facing with strong commercial acumen; ability to speak both a Finance and Operational “language” Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to effectively lead performance and manage expectations. Proactive and consultative approach with operational stakeholders; visible and willing to work with stakeholders where and when needed Ability to distil, analyse and present proposals to senior management
