The successful candidate will work as part of a team to create, maintain and file all patient medical records in line with current policies and procedures. A key objective for this position is to gather patient information, liaising with physicians, other hospital staff and our in-house database.
This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week.
Role Responsibilities include:
Initiate the medical record by creating and processing the patient care record folder
Deliver records to assigned areas of the hospital by following established routing procedures
Ensures that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times during transportation between locations
Retrieve record folders from wards or outpatient areas and ensure they are securely filed as per Hospital policy
Assist departments with record queries
Respond to external requests for access to clinical medical records
Undertake general office duties and any other duties as may be requested by the Patient Administration & Contracts Manager or Finance & Systems Analyst
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previously experience working in a medical records role is desirable. Possess excellent time management and organizational skills. Be deadline oriented and focused on quality. Have attention to detail and thoroughness. Be computer literate with good keyboard/input speed. Experience in a healthcare environment is desirable.
