Job Description
  • To receive all inpatient booking forms from the Inpatient Bookings Team received from Consultants and or their secretaries, process and arrange appointments for the Pre-Operative nurse to assess patients in clinic or by telephone assessment.
  • To organize and set up Pre-Operative clinics working in liaison with the Inpatient Bookings Team
  • Prepare and print clinic lists for following days clinics
  • Check previous days clinics for any non-attendance, contact patient and rebook missed appointments.
  • Enter and process Nurse-Led appointments into SAP
  • Communicate late bookings and changes to pre-operative clinics to clinical members of team
  • Communicate to patients any changes to booked pre-operative appointments, either verbally by telephone, SMS or in writing if time permits
  • Request patient clinical notes from respective GPs in relation to patients forthcoming admission
  • File investigations such as ECG and blood test results in preparation for patient's admission
  • Perform any other tasks that support the smooth running of the day to day operation of the Pre-Operative Dept.
  • Support Registered Nurses within the team in any other administrative duties requested
  • Perform general admin duties, including photo-copying, scanning, faxing etc.,
  • Ensure mandatory training is completed within required time frame.
  • To attend the daily team huddle and record discussion on the daily huddle sheet.
  • To attend and take minutes at monthly team meetings.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Educated to GCSE standard in English and Math. Excellent numeracy skills. Knowledge of SAP is an essential part of this job. Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Word , Outlook and Excel. Enthusiastic self-motivated, able to priorities and work under pressure. Good organizational skills and time management. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team with a desire to provide excellent customer service. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Experience of working in administration roles ideally within the healthcare profession. Confident telephone manner with the ability to communicate with a wide range of customers at all levels. Ability to work effectively as a team. High degree of accuracy and a methodical approach to the workload. Ability to work to tight deadlines. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Computer literate with good keyboard skills. Good customer care skills with the ability to handle difficult situations.
