Job Description

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual who can demonstrate excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills. They will have a good command of Microsoft word, excel and Outlook. In addition they will be prepared to learn hospital applications for booking and management of patient clinics, data gathering and roistering.
The post holder will work within the busy and friendly Speech and Language Therapy department supporting the acute, head and neck oncology and voice teams. They will be responsible for answering the department phones, taking new referral information, booking and updating clinics, preparing and sending appointment letters, formatting and sending reports, minute taking (short hand not required) and general office support including ad-hoc tasks, photocopying and laminating.
Many of the patients who phone the department will have significant health concerns and may have difficulties communicating. The post holder will need to be prepared to adjust their communication to support these patient calls (Speech and Language Therapists will provide support of how to do this) and demonstrate sensitivity and professionalism at all times.
