Job Description

On a daily basis, you will be analysing Real Time PCR data, which has been generated by the clinical laboratory team to provide results of the COVID-19 diagnosis.

You will provide assurance to the Laboratory Senior Management team, through data analysis of the credibility of test results produced within the laboratory daily.

One of your primary responsibilities will be working alongside the Laboratory Shift Manager & Lead Scientist in the management of the laboratory.

To be responsible for the production of all standing operational procedures, protocols and policies within the section, and ensure that they are maintained, reviewed and updated when necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Educated to BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent qualification acceptable to the Institute of Biomedical Sciences and the Health Professions Council for registration. Experience: • As a Lab Analyst, you will have extensive experience in an understanding of the meaning of results to enable authorisation and appropriate action in dealing with abnormal or unusual results. • A working knowledge and practical application of the departments IT systems. • Experience in a laboratory preferably in molecular or microbiology. • The knowledge and experience using PCR machinery In addition, the following education and experience are also desirable but not mandatory: Education: • A willingness to undertake study leading to qualifications required for career advancement • State registration with Health Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist. Please note that as a Lab Analyst, you are not required to have extensive experience across all of the desirable competencies described above, but applicants are expected to have relevant experience for the competency which they would oversee.
