Responsibilities
Regional Strategy
· Responsible for developing, updating and implementing the regional HR Strategy, with reference to the national HR strategy and regional strategy, and subsequently communicating the plan to key regional stakeholders.
Key Relationship Management
· Responsible for developing and maintaining the relationship with Regional Managing Partner (RMP), managing their HR related concerns in a commercial and pragmatic manner.
· Attend quarterly Regional Management Team meetings and annual Partner conferences, contributing to agenda and presenting where required.
· Responsible for developing relationships with other key regional and national stakeholders.
· Provide coaching and development support to Partners and Leadership candidates working closely with the development team.
· Where appropriate, developing and maintaining relationship with Head of National Faculty, co-ordinating national processes, providing strategic input and liaising with other HR teams for local operational support.
National HR
· Attendance at and contribution to the regular HRM Meetings.
· Implementation at a regional level of all National HR projects and initiatives.
· Assistance and support to National HR projects and to other regional HRMs when additional resources are required.
Management of Regional HR Team
· Via the Regional Strategy, provide direction for the team, setting the scene for HR service delivery.
· Recruitment and retention of regional HR team to include all performance management, training and development.
· Provide support and guidance to team for generalist HR queries.
Manage the following areas of responsibility within the region:
Recruitment and selection:
· Liaise with the NW Partners and RMP, and Senior Manager - Experienced Hire to provide support and guidance on national recruitment strategy.
· Oversee the regional recruitment programme in conjunction with the NW Recruitment Advisor.
Trainee hire:
· In conjunction with the national trainee recruitment team and regional lead, develop NW trainee attraction strategy and manage the assessment process to fill annual trainee vacancies.
Policies & Procedures:
· Ensure that existing policies and procedures are adhered to and provide complex advice regarding their application e.g. flexible working appeals process.
· Develop and agree new policies and procedures for national implementation as required.
Projects:
· With reference to regional and National HR strategy, develop local project initiatives and manage as appropriate.
· Take part in National HR projects where appropriate.
Performance Management / Exit:
· Provide advice and guidance to the Partners and Managers to support them in dealing with difficult performance issues.
· Ensure that legal and firm requirements are met, and risk managed commercially.
· Oversee redundancy, disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings. Hear appeals as appropriate.
· Provide HR advice during any merger situations and manage any unavoidable redundancies.
· Provide mediation and outplacement support nationally as appropriate.
· Provide support and guidance to the local HR team on these issues as appropriate.
Induction and Exit Procedures:
· Ensure regional team carry out both induction and exit interviews.
· Review regional exit interview feedback and action as appropriate.
Compensation and Benefits:
· Management of the annual salary review process within NW region.
· Undertake any local actions required for harmonisation of terms and conditions.
· Ensure all offers of employment / contractual terms are in line with national policy.
· Provide guidance to Partners on salary matters.
Person specification:
· A Senior HR generalist with significant experience.
· A graduate; with a relevant degree / CIPD.
· Managerial experience.
· Experience of managing disciplinaries, grievances, redundancies and general consultations to complex level.
· Experience of a multi-site role.
· Excellent organisational / project management skills.
· Excellent client service skills.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
· Excellent commercial acumen.
· Pragmatic and solutions focused attitude.
