An exciting opportunity has come up to join the Trust’s finance team as Finance Business Partner for Research and Development. This is a highly prestigious role, providing financial support to the world’s leading research and development team in ophthalmology. As the principal finance contact for Research and Development, this post will be responsible for providing financial management and support to the Division, including financial input to business case production, costing statements, programme budget returns and the preparation and management of research grants. This is a key role within Moorfields Eye Hospital whereby the successful applicant would find themselves on a dynamic career trajectory within NHS financial management in an interesting and challenging setting, surrounded by colleagues are at the top of their game.
The successful applicant will be a qualified CCAB accountant or passed finalist with considerable experience in either NHS Financial Management or in providing financial support to research and development teams in another sector e.g. Education, Charity or the Private Sector. You will have the intellectual capacity and communication skills to excel in explaining highly complex financial issues clearly and concisely to non-finance managers, as well as the credibility and gravitas to provide constructive challenge to clinicians and academics at the forefront of ophthalmology research and development. An understanding of funding mechanisms in NHS research would be useful, as well as previous exposure to governance and financial administration of numerous research projects. The successful candidate will also have a proactive approach to problem solving, highly developed technical analysis skills and the ability to build excellent working relationships with colleagues at all levels as well as tenacity, resilience, diplomacy and excellent judgement.
