The key responsibilities of the Assistant Financial Accountant include but are not limited to:
Co-ordinate with Finance Managers to receive draft VAT returns from our outsourced provider on a timely basis ready for review, for all countries in which the company is registered across Europe;
Co-ordinate the internal approval process and settlement of VAT liabilities to ensure submissions and payments are made on time;
Responsibility to ensure all VAT payments are accurately coded;
Completing a transactional level review on all draft VAT returns (bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and Spanish STI);
Carrying out EC Sales list transactional reviews to include or exclude invoices as appropriate for all countries in which the company is registered;
Escalating transactional problems to the VAT team/Finance Managers as appropriate and processing the necessary accounting adjustments
Support the VAT team in their education and training activities to improve the understanding of VAT requirements in the business, retained finance and the FSC
Completion of VAT reconciliations for all UK entities and ensure all SOX control compliance requirements are met
Responsible for ensuring the accounting and disclosure of VAT assets, liabilities and payments is correct at month and quarter ends
Running regular transactional reviews to minimise errors on the VAT returns
Support all VAT digitalisation and reporting requirements
The Successful Applicant
The successful Assistant Financial Accountant will ideally be:
A part-qualified ACA/ACCA accountant with relevant experience in industry,
or
Qualified by experience with a degree in Finance & Accounting or other applicable subject,
or
Qualified accounting technician with relevant experience in industry
Adaptable and energetic, with ability to work as part of a team, as well as under their own initiative
A good level of Excel knowledge and experience is essential
Workday (ERP) experience is desirable
What's on Offer
On offer for the successful candidate is a salary of between £38,000 and £42,000 per annum
