Job Description

Monthly duties will include: 

- Analysis of monthly revenues on both a day 1 and deferred basis, and understanding and reporting the key drivers
- Posting of complex revenue transactions and ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained
- Ownership of multiple costs of sales lines ensuring these are appropriately accounted for in relation to the revenue recognition
- Involvement in month end close, including posting into Netsuite of revenue accruals and deferrals and completion of balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversight and management of revenue deferral tools and systems to ensure that dual accounting records are maintained for both standalone and group revenue reporting
- Manage a small team of Qualified and Part Qualified accountants

Ongoing responsibilities will include: 

- Help develop financial position papers for important revenue transactions and new products, for discussion and agreement with the management team and external audit
- Check that new transactions are in line with position papers and have been accounted for correctly
- Liaising with the business to understand the commercial aspects of new revenue deals and ensuring this is fed through correctly into the accounting systems
- Liaising with external auditors for all elements of revenue audits
- Involvement in projects to aid with process improvement, automation and efficiencies
- Implementing and updating internal process, policy and control documents

Skills and Abilities:

- Technically strong qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA)
- Detailed accounting standards knowledge (in particular IFRS 9, 10 & 15) and ability to understand and interpret standards in different practical situations
- Previous complex revenue experience desirable
- Strong systems experience, with experience of manipulating large datasets and performing data analytics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage and develop a small team of Accountants
- Hands on approach with ability to get into the detail and understand complex transactions from a commercial perspective
- Financial Services experience desirable (but not essential)
- Willingness to work in an ever-changing environment
- Inquisitive with desire to learn in a complex environment
- Experience of NetSuite (would be desirable but not essential)
- Acts with honesty and integrity
- Curious and resourceful – seeks out difficult questions and finds solutions
- Resilient, able to learn from mistakes and move forward
