Assistant Accountant

Job Description
Responsibilities currently include supporting the centralized taxation, financial reporting / audit functions and other group central services such as departmental overheads, insurance renewals, budgeting and Treasury amongst others. The group financial reporting and tax department is therefore a multi-disciplinary team with all members involved in a range of duties and responsibilities as required to meet the changing needs of the business.
Assist in managing the company’s general ledger
Work closely with functional department managers to monitor monthly overhead expenditure and assist in the preparation of annual budgets
Ensure timely completion of UK & ROI VAT returns, Intrastate & EC Sales reporting
Ensure timely completion of monthly Balance sheet reconciliations
Review the Balance sheet reconciliations prepared by site accountants
Other administration tasks as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
What you’ll need: Experience of working in an accounting team and accounts preparation. Microsoft Office skills, in particular Excel. Proven record of ability to work to tight dead-lines. Thorough and meticulous with extreme attention to detail. Independent self-starter with ability to identify and implement changes to systems and procedures. Assertive, good team worker with strong professional work ethic. Experience of SAP or similar ERP systems. Experience in preparation and submission of tax returns, including VAT, Intrastate and EC Sales.
