Job Description

Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be a key player in driving the financial controls and performance of the business and providing support to the Finance Director on all finance-related matters. The role will also involve total management and ownership of all Finance Functions, including the ongoing development of the existing Finance System (Intact).

One of the key elements involved within the role is owning and having a full understanding of the company Balance Sheet and ensuring accuracy each month.

The role will provide much-needed support in the Finance process during the growth of the business and will become a vital part of the business moving forward adding value in reporting and cost controls. The role is also expected to provide support and development to the Accounts Assistant role already in place.

The role has the potential to become whatever is required as the business is continuing to grow and the Finance department is still evolving. A lot of the Finance processes, controls and templates have been set up and implemented over the last 2 years but there are still areas to improve and implement moving forward. This role will be instrumental in helping deliver and implement these changes over the next few months.

 

  • Responsibility and full ownership of the monthly financial accounts including Profit & Loss / Balance Sheet and completion of all monthly reconciliations.
  • Weekly Supplier Payment Processes and Controls, including supporting the FD in weekly cashflow forecasting
  • Ownership of the business Overheads, including production of all monthly Accruals and Prepayments for each profit centre.
  • Ownership of Fixed Asset Register and monthly depreciation journals
  • Monthly Project Cash analysis and investigation including monthly reconciliation of all Work in Progress.
  • Management of Aged Debtors / Creditors and reporting
  • Support the FD in all Month End Reporting functions and creation of Trend Analysis Reports
  • Work alongside the FD in creation on annual budgets
  • Alongside the Senior Management Team, contribute to the overall management of the business and delivery of its targets, both financial and non-financial
  • Liaise with external Audit and manage annual audit process.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Accounting qualification is required Construction industry knowledge is preferred Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience preferred Strong systems and Excel knowledge are essential to support the monthly reporting requirements Ability to work independently but also as part of a team Previous experience of training and developing staff members Enthusiastic individual with the drive and determination to succeed and grow with the business.
