Job Description
Financial Controller - Key responsibilities and expectations
Preparation and Management of company’s and department annual budget and process
To regulate, supervise and implement a timely, full and accurate set of accounting books, reflecting all activities in accordance with UK legislation and regulation and subject to internal guidelines set from time to time by the Board of Directors
Implement and manage continuous financial audit and control systems to monitor company performance, its flow of funds, adherence to the budget, expenditures, income, cost of sales and other budgetary items.
Prepare and present financial statements and reports to the Management Team and Board of Directors and participate in Board and performance review meetings as required
Lead budgeting activities within the business, including the preparation and presentation of the annual budget for the approval of the Board of Directors, together with other budgets and financial plans as may be required from time to time
Manage external suppliers of financial services hired or contracted by HydraForce, including auditors or financial consultants
To contribute to the achievement of cost efficiency and strong financial viability by working across the business to identify improvements
Working with HydraForce Inc to ensure common approaches to all aspects of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and control, where appropriate
Responsible, with the Management Team, for reviewing and approving monthly, half year and full year forecasts
Participate in, and support the development of, the company’s 5 year business plans
Manage and develop the Finance Team, including setting departmental objectives and supporting members of the team in the achievement of these objectives
Oversee the preparation of IT budget and monitor and control IT spend
Responsible for design and monitoring of financial internal controls

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
FCMA Qualified accountant Previously held a similar position in a manufacturing business with turnover in the region of £100m Have successfully driven through management information and system improvements and have both strong systems skills and be capable of clearly communicating financial issues to non-financial people Excellent communication skills, verbal and written with the ability to communicate with people at all levels and from diverse cultures Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers and colleagues and develop and grow effective teams which will contribute to the business success Ability to cultivate, understand and anticipate the needs of the customer and to provide effective solutions and recommendations Capable of challenging existing practices, processes and systems to deliver improvements to benefit the business Occasional overseas travel required
