Job Description

One of these roles is permanent, with one a 12-month fixed term covering maternity leave. You will report to a Principal Accountant providing the Children’s and Education services with financial advice, support and challenge.

Within this role you can expect to:

  • Support the Principal Accountant to advise Budget Holders on all financial matters including proposals to enhance day to day service delivery and financial performance;
  • Work to a monthly and annual timetable to ensure a smooth month end and closure of accounts process;
  • Assist with costing, revenue and capital budgets and outturn forecasts;
  • Review and enhance the finance monitoring processes, financial management and control;
  • Analyze, evaluate and communicate the financial implications of service issues;
  • Ensure all grants returns and other returns are completed and submitted on time including budget and outturn submissions;
  • Deputies for the Principal Accountant as necessary.

Finally, you must have good IT skills with excellent knowledge of office applications.
