Job Description

Working as part of a dedicated finance team, the primary focus of the role is assisting with the production and reporting of the monthly management accounts, posting journals, performing reconciliations, quarterly financial reports and the financial control of the Company’s balance sheet.

Main responsibilities will be:

  • Assisting with production of all management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet) and internal management reporting.
  • Assisting with completion of the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Month end planning and timetabling for reporting across the team.
  • Assisting external auditors for all external reporting requirements.
  • Assisting with reinsurance accounting and reconciliation. Ensuring payments and returns are completed within agreed deadlines.
  • Assisting with completion of returns to trade organizations such as ABI and the Office for National Statistics.
  • Assisting with the production of accurate financial, other statutory and tax returns, required to meet legislative requirements, e.g.; IPT, VAT and Companies House.
  • Adhere to the TU Financial and Risk Data Management Policy

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Part Qualified Accountant or be working towards a recognized financial qualification, e.g. ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification / experience
  • Experience of working within an accounting function, ideally within the insurance or financial services sector
  • Highly numerate; able to demonstrate financial acumen
  • Ability to perform accounting/financial reconciliations; able to identify data errors and take corrective action
  • High levels of computer literacy, previous experience of using Access database, Crystal or other reporting tool
  • High degree of accuracy; demonstrates a significant level of attention to detail
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and build rapport to achieve resolution of issues where applicable.
  • Ability to take responsibility for allocated tasks and ensure actions are taken to ensure that tasks are completed accurately and on time.
