Job Description

You will be comfortable in a rapidly changing and growing environment and able to assist the Management Accounting Lead in the development of structure around processes and technology to support them in delivering in their roles.

  • Operational management accounting
  • Prepares management accounting information for final review, ensuring all work is accurate, timely, easy to follow and informative.

  • Consistently learns from review points in prior months, works to proactively incorporate previous review points into next month’s output.
  • Works within budgeted timeframes to deliver, and highlights difficulties quickly to the Management Accounting Lead. Consistently aims to improve on budget.
  • Applies technical accounting knowledge to work, highlights concern early and consults with others for solutions.
  • Assists in ensuring effective controls are in place to maintain compliance with Tax and Accounting policies and procedures.
  • Develops their own skills, knowledge and experience of management accounting and clients.
  • Communication & meeting deadlines
  • Prioritizes their workload effectively in order to meet month end deadlines. Identifies opportunities to front load work where possible and reduce the effort at month end.
  • Uses effective communication methods, both written and verbal to ensure all stakeholders are kept fully informed of progress on service delivery, raising risks and issues on a timely basis.
  • Builds a strong reputation for delivering a quality, timely product recognizing that this is a key ingredient of future success with our internal clients.
  • Builds strong stakeholder relationships and is regarded as a ‘trusted advisor’.

  • Assists in development of a strong team identity, working towards a ‘right first time’ culture through their commitment to delivering a high-quality output.
  • Acts as a strong role model, coaches and develops junior team members to perform at their best.
  • Willing “to roll their sleeves” up to deliver.
  • Delegates work to junior team members and ensures delivery to deadline and of required quality.
  • Identifies technical training needs and raises this to the Management Accounting Lead, works with them to fill the gaps.
  • Highlights any resource challenges and escalates to the Management Accounting Lead promptly to ensure no disruption to client service.
  • Manages their time effectively to allow for peaks e.g. month end and troughs in workload, anticipating holiday periods and ensuring adequate cover is in place.

Other duties

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of procedural documentation relevant to the management accounting team for knowledge transfer protocols.
  • Actively looks for opportunities to increase and expand their own knowledge base and that of the team through research, on the job training and participation in continuous improvement projects.
  • Actively identifies opportunities for efficiencies while maintaining strong internal controls and minimizing risk.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Is resilient and can work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and takes accountability for their own work.
  • Can manage teams of junior staff to deliver on engagements.
  • Strong team player, works for the good of the whole of the LCC
  • Experienced in relationship building, adapting their style to the situation, being flexible in understanding the needs of the client and how to deliver an outstanding client experience.
  • Ability to recognize client issues quickly, and proactively respond with a resolution.
  • Has commercial acumen, understands the importance of budgets and corresponding fees, works in a way that helps ensure profitability targets are met.
  • Qualified accountant with 1+ years post qualification experience.
  • Practice/audit background preferred.
  • ERP experience (NetSuite, Oracle, Sage etc.).
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client service skills.
