Job Description

You will be responsible for working alongside the other management accountant to produce the monthly management accounts including variance analysis. This will include elements of responsibility for monthly rolling forecasting and key financial reporting as well covering key tasks of the Data Analyst. You will be responsible for putting together the monthly management accounts including variance analysis against budget and forecasts

  • Key month-end tasks are revenue recognition, accrual/prepayments, fixed assets, balance sheet recs, group month-end reports
  • National statistics returns
  • Coding purchase ledger invoices
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of the Balance Sheet and having explanations for any queries raised in monthly review meetings
  • Taking ownership of producing first draft monthly forecasts and working with the accountant to produce the complete forecast
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets
  • Assisting manager for the preparation of annual statutory accounts & tax packs
  • Responsible for key weekly and monthly head office reporting
  • Holding monthly meetings with budget holders to explain actual performance, answer queries and produce new forecasts
  • Preparation and support in the audit of financial statements (Internal and external)
  • Covering core monthly tasks of the data analyst (e.g. daily uploads, monthly price uploads)
  • Covering other management accountant in his/her absence

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Educated to degree level in a Finance or Business-related subject
  • Part-qualified/Finalist, newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • At least 3 years management accounting experience
  • Understanding of financial reporting, full P&L and Balance Sheet preparation
  • Experience working with non-finance managers
  • Experience in forecasting, budgeting, reporting and analysis
  • Self-Starter with a strong work ethic
  • Intermediate/advanced excel skills
  • SQL query writing advantageous
  • Proficient use of ERP systems preferably SAP B1/ Dynamics 365
  • Ability to work under pressure, taking ownership of work and meeting strict deadlines
