Job Description

  • As part of the IP administrative team, support an international team of patent attorneys in all aspects of managing global patent procurement activities.
  • Managing the invention submission and patent prosecution workflow between the engineering organization, in-house IP attorneys and outside counsel
  • Maintain the intellectual property database and docketing system with respect to patent matters
  • Maintain and track a docket of key deadlines in the patent drafting workflow
  • Generate reports of patents requiring review/assessment and execute the decisions made by the legal staff or engineering
  • Provide other administrative support for the IP legal staff (assistance with presentations; organizing meetings; expense report assistance, etc.)
  • Perform the above-mentioned core duties supporting in-house IP attorneys, engineering organizations, and outside counsel located in Europe, the United States and APAC.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • 3+ years of experience at either a law firm or corporate IP department as an intellectual property administrator/paralegal (or with similar responsibilities).
  • Familiarity with patent prosecution workflow.
  • Experience in international patent prosecution in major world patent offices, including at least EPO, USPTO, and Chinese Patent Office.
  • Competent in the use of standard Office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Experience working with third party and PowerPoint; IP database and docketing tools.
  • Ideally, have experience working with Salesforce-based administrative tools.
  • Have excellent organization skills, a professional work ethic and a team attitude.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and be fluent in written and spoken English. Additional language skills such as German or French are not required but are a plus.
