Job Description
Oversee the audit function includes:
Preparation and approval of audit packs prior to audit
Preparation of statutory accounts and necessary disclosures in line with requirements of FRS 102
Identification and calculation of statutory adjustments on conversion from US to UK GAAP
Communicating with ledger controllers on audit requirements and provision of guidance on technical accounting issues
Ensure that the key issues are identified in a timely manner and adequate time is allowed for the escalation and resolution of issues
Communicating with external auditors
Assist in drafting key management papers for the audit and ad-hoc technical accounting projects, such as analysis of complex or judgemental transactions and adoption of new standards
Maintain an awareness of developments in the field of Statutory Accounting & Reporting to ensure compliance and quality
Complete business survey questionnaires issued by Office of National Statistics
Assist in the development of audit packs and challenge current ways of working, driving change and efficiencies wherever possible
Constantly review systems and procedures for statutory reporting ensuring the highest standards of work are maintained
Potential to work on other European Statutory audits were appropriate
Assist with Ad-hoc Transfer Pricing Activities and other analysis
Provide support to WT control team when required and holiday cover
Prepare any ad-hoc reporting as required by the Wellbore Europe Finance Management
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualified Accountant (ICAS/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent (essential)
Experience of audit (essential)
Experience within a statutory reporting role (essential)
Technical ability to prepare, review and ensure accuracy and completeness of all work delivered by the Department and Company (essential)
Experience of interpreting and applying accounting and regulatory guidance (essential)
Strong track record in improving financial reporting processes, including effective use of technology (essential)
Previous experience of accounting and financial reporting within an oil & gas service company (desirable)
Profound knowledge of UK and US GAAP (essential)
Excellent analytical and numerical skills (essential)
Advanced ability in Excel and Word (essential)
Ability to take ownership of and accountability over workload management and meeting deadlines (essential)
Enthusiastic with a willingness to resolve issues and ensure technical accuracy (essential)
Excellent communication skills with ability to engage with colleagues and auditors at all levels (essential)
Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley Act (desirable)
Good technical knowledge of IFRS (desirable)
Case ware or statutory accounts production software experience (desirable)
Working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management and its functionality (desirable)
