Job Description

You will work closely with our Head of Internal Audit to share their knowledge which will allow you to develop your skills as an Auditor. If you are an Internal Audit Practitioner and haven’t already got your Professional Chartered Internal Audit qualification or equivalent, you will have the opportunity to gain it through an apprenticeship and gain experience as a Chartered Professional Auditor.

In this position, you will undertake the approved internal audit programme using a risk-based approach and report results to senior management ensuring that any improvements are completed. You will make sure your audits meet budgets, timescales and quality standards. You will also apply professional auditing principles to assess risk, controls and governance, as well as analyzing causes and efficiency. You will then develop, assess, and agree viable solutions. This means you will be operating across all levels of the business, therefore it is essential you produce clear and concise audit reports. You will agree actions with management that reduce risk and/or improve processes, and then you will follow up audit recommendations to ensure that they have been implemented as agreed.

We are looking for a passionate individual who can hit the ground running. We are looking for a someone who has a CCAB qualification, is an IIA Chartered Professional Auditor or who is an IIA Practitioner willing to work towards this through an apprenticeship and has the following experience and skills:


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent analytical, investigation and report writing skills
  • The ability to work at a detailed level while being able to appreciate the wider business context
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience of the ability to identify sensitive issues and facilitate communications in a proactive and constructive manner 
  • Good pc literacy skills.
  • Experience within the water and sewerage industry
  • Experience working in the water industry legal and regulatory environment
  • Experience in risk-based audit work.
