Job Description

You will deliver an independent review of the cost and performance of the project or group of projects area, providing sound financial support and advice, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and evaluating processes to ensure that robust, relevant and adequate financial controls are in place. This role will provide you with exposure of working with key stakeholders amongst our business. There is also the opportunity for this role to potentially become permanent.

• Providing Project Accounting Support for a variety of contracts, working closely with the Integrated Delivery Team (IDT) offering financial support and guidance
• Delivering accurate and consistent project reporting information to meet the needs of the project team and finance management including the preparation of project finance progress reports
• Supporting preparation reviews and submissions of month end journals
• Monitoring financial performance, providing independent and robust financial challenge
• Supporting annual Integrated Business Planning process (IBP)
• Acting as a Business Partner and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers
• Being involved with the internal and external audit processes for projects
• Reconciling the financial reports to the source ledgers to ensure integrity of the data provided
• Preparing monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Adhering to and supporting all Financial Governance, Audits, Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) and wider BAE Systems processes

You will be a fantastic communicator both written and verbally, with good stakeholder engagement skills. You will work well with a team and will provide robust challenges to the business where appropriate, having good business acumen. You maintain a strong desire to learn and proactively seek solutions to problems you encounter. You must have the ability to priorities and work under pressure.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Fully qualified accountant or individual qualified by experience and will typically have a degree.
• Previous experience in a project accounting role
• Ability to business partner and build strong rapport with the project teams providing robust challenge where appropriate
• Proficient in Microsoft Packages including particularly, Excel
• Prior experience in consolidating financial information into management reports
• Experience using SAP would be beneficial
