Job Description

The Group is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial-led business that spots opportunities and isn’t afraid to pivot. The core trading activities include;

  • Digital and creative marketing
  • Software development
  • Business data/intelligence
  • Publishing (print and digital)
  • Business events
  • Investment in property and start-up/scale-up ventures

The CFO will support the business owners and provide strategic input, strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders and funding partners, oversee key projects and provide corporate governance.
You will also ensure the robust financial reporting, management and forecasting from the accounts department and ensure the Group meets its compliance and regulatory obligations.

  • You will be a qualified/chartered accountant with experience in both SME within the service, media, marketing or technology sectors
  • Familiar with privately owned and VC/PE owned ventures
  • Knowledgeable on group structures and inter-company trading
  • A hands-on leader who likes to get ‘under the bonnet’ and understand the business
  • Experience in Xero and Sage Line 50 and good all-round technology skills
  • Excellent communicator and a ‘people person’ able to lead and inspire others
  • Experience in the challenges of high-growth entrepreneurial companies
  • Prepared to work from our HQ in Worle, North Somerset and travel as required

Experience in M&A, business restructures and due diligence would be an advantage as the Group is considering acquisitions as part of its growth strategy, and the CEO often works with clients going through an exit or acquisition. Experience and comprehension around Companies House filing/documentation an advantage due to new in-house software developments.
Hours are flexible but circa 2 – 4 days a month to start, with some flexibility, and the package/terms are negotiable.
