Job Description

You will be the business partner to the Director of Membership and Retention and Director of Operations with responsibility for advising on all aspects of financial management including commercial pricing, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis and insight, monthly and weekly reporting and the operation of a robust system of financial control.

Key accountabilities include

  • Provide commercial support to the Director of Membership and Retention, Director of Operations and the Finance Director to provide key insight and understanding of the financial performance and strategic direction of the business
  • Lead commercials and input into pricing of product changes and new propositions
  • Inform and challenge decision making through commercial understanding of key cost and growth drivers and associated risks and opportunities
  • Work with key stakeholders across the division and wider group to check and challenge numbers, identify areas of under/over performance and agree and track actions to improve performance
  • Set and govern common KPI definitions to allow for effective benchmarking and performance evaluation
  • Perform robust capex and project investment appraisal and post implementation review
  • Understand and influence the divisional strategy and short- and medium-term targets
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting
  • Manage and report on key risks and opportunities and provide management with risk-based scenario planning
  • Manage the month end process to deliver accurate and timely reporting accounting
  • Manage and maintain effective operation of robust financial controls
  • Review and support balance sheet reconciliations
  • Identify and drive improvements and efficiencies in existing processes

A degree educated ACA, CIMA or ACCA qualified accountant with strong finance business partnering experience in fast paced, complex and highly commercial environments, you’ll have strong commercial acumen and the ability to assimilate information, challenge constructively and make decisions quickly. Demonstrating gravitas and credibility you’ll have excellent relationship management, influencing and communication skills with a track record of providing effective support and challenge to senior customers and stakeholders. With excellent financial modelling skills, you’re organized and analytical and are comfortable balancing conflicting priorities and working to tight deadlines. With previous experience of leading a team, you’ll have the ability to step back and see the bigger picture whilst maintaining knowledge and understanding of the detail through hands on management. Whilst not essential, relevant senior experience of working in a regulated retail environment and of successfully overseeing and providing insight on trading performance would be a significant advantage.
