Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented network security administrator to ensure access and protect against unauthorized access, modifications, or destruction. Your responsibilities include performing risk assessments, audits, IT staff training sessions, and monitoring network activity.

Responsibilities:

  • Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network security solutions 
  • Configure and Manage our virtual environments which include VMware, Citrix and OpenStack
  • Updating software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource
  • Performing vulnerability and penetration tests, identifying and defending against threats, and developing disaster recovery plans
  • Configuring security systems, analyzing security requirements, and recommending improvements
  • Remediating threats identified by network penetration SW (Qualys, Orca, etc.)
  • Monitoring network traffic for suspicious behavior
  • Creating network policies and authorization roles and defending against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction
  • Consulting with staff, managers, and executives about the best security practices and providing technical advice
  • Configuring and supporting security tools, such as firewalls (Juniper) and anti-virus software
  • Help train IT staff to understand and use security processes
  • Adhere to change management
  • GDPR searches for SARS requests coming through using a vault

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced training certifications may be advantageous (CCNA, CISCO, etc.)
  • A strong understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and security systems
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
  • 2 + years of prior relevant experience
  • Advanced certifications such as SANS GIAC/GCIA/GCIH, CISSP or CASP and/or SIEM-specific training and certification
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements
  • Hands-on experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data (e.g. Net flow, FPC), and other attack artifacts in support of incident investigations
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions
  • Understanding of mobile technology and OS (i.e. Android, iOS, Windows), VMware technology, and Unix commands
  • Excellent communication, analytical and listening skills
  • To be able to communicate with staff at all levels
  • To be able to communicate key ideas clearly to the team and Management
  • The ability to work on your own or as part of a team, especially whilst under duress in busy periods
  • Research and develop solutions and improvements on a team-level
