Job Description

Working on a national and international scale, highlights include corporate restructurings, investment fund transactions and property development transactions. The team regularly advises clients and intermediaries on a wide range of tax issues including:

  • Corporate finance support on trade, private equity and renewables deals, including related advisory work
  • Transfers of going concerns, including administration sales
  • Corporate reconstructions, including demergers and intra-group reorganizations
  • Advising on inbound investment structures
  • Investor reliefs and advice on tax efficient extraction of value from private companies
  • Tax advice to buyers and sellers of development land
  • Advice to investors (including non-residents) in UK commercial and residential property, including SDLT, LBTT, LTT and VAT advice
  • Advising in relation to UK authorized funds, including OEICs, AUTs and ACS
  • Advising pension funds on investments
  • Financing tax advice, including in relation to loan facility agreements, derivatives, finance leasing and other financing arrangements
  • Disclosure of tax irregularities to HMRC and dealing with HMRC investigations

This role provides excellent opportunities to use a wide-range of skills and experience. With a varied work load, you can expect to become involved in all or any of the following:

  • Corporate finance support
  • Structuring acquisitions and disposals
  • Advising on corporate reconstruction and group arrangements
  • Structuring property transactions for landowners, developers, funds and end users
  • Bank lending and acquisition finance support
  • Employment tax related advice
  • Advice on shareholder and investor taxation, including reliefs
  • EIS, SEIS, VCT advice
  • Partnership tax
  • Tax advice to owner-managed businesses
  • Taxation of funds and pension schemes
  • Tax-related litigation, investigations and enquiries

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong academics, coupled with evidence of good quality training and experience gained at a firm with a reputation for high quality corporate tax work.
  • A strong team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal, client and commercial skills.
  • Adaptable and able to deal with complex, varied work under pressure.
  • You will have gained experience leading others to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • You will need to be a SRA registered lawyer.

An existing CTA qualification and a specialism within the wider corporate tax environment would be advantageous.
