Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven experience of effective handling of spending reviews and budget planning for voted funds; and in-year financial management through to delivery of Annual Report and Accounts.
Championing enterprise, commercialism and 'enabling' each part of the business to have sufficient funds to pursue their strategic objectives
Significant experience at departmental directorate level, confidently leading strategic financial and corporate governance teams across complex organizations, providing specialist and professional advice and guidance.
A finance professional who will take confident risks and is unafraid to challenge and negotiate robustly.
Full membership of one of the major accountancy professional bodies forming the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) namely ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA, CIPFA and ICAI; or CIMA
Demonstrable knowledge of relevant government financial publications such as Managing Public Money, Consolidated Budgeting Guidance and Financial Reporting Manual.
A thorough understanding of risk management, government security and counter-fraud techniques particularly when applied to central government organizations.
