Job Description

The Assistant Financial Accountant role includes:

• Assist in analysis and review of monthly financial performance. Analytical review of cost drivers and impact on consolidated business results including comparisons to budgets and periodic forecasts.

• Responsible for day to day relationship with regional business partners, central supply chain management and other internal functions to answer queries and provide support as well as manage process for ensuring compliance with agreed timetable.

• Work together with the wider GFC (Group Financial Control) team to maintain and monitor the accuracy and integrity of the management accounting information produced. Regular ad-hoc analysis to track performance or identify issues ahead of month end reporting cycle.

• Work closely to develop relations with finance colleagues outside of GFC to understand FM performance and drive improvements and efficiencies. Main contacts include business partners across seven regional zones and central supply chain management.

• Maintenance and development of standardised FM schedules to accurately capture the split of direct and indirect costs including rationalised, non-rationalised and in-house.

• Challenging FM business partners to support the drive to improve performance and deliver value for money.

• Providing support where required including challenge of FM spend by internal and external reviewers including external auditors (NAO).

• Work with the Asset management (AM) and FP&A counterpart to implement

To successfully apply for the Assistant Financial Accountant role the candidate must have the following experience:

• Extensive knowledge of financial control requirements and audit implications
• Experience of delivering month end requirements
• Experience delivering month end reporting within a strict timetable
• Excellent excel skills including pivots, v looks ups and formulae
• Must be immediately available
• Must be studying ACCA, ACA or CIMA
