Job Description

You’ll be working as part of a diverse team, preparing key financial information for use by our management and Executive teams to inform business strategy and decision making. You’ll use your excellent organization and time-management skills to prepare monthly management accounts to agreed timescales, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance commentary. You’ll also be responsible for preparing regulatory returns for the PRA, FCA and Bank of England when required.

  • Preparation of accurate month end journals for authorization within the financial reporting system
  • Responsible for preparation of monthly management accounts including balance sheet reconciliations and variance commentary to aid the preparation of the monthly financial reporting pack produced by the Financial Controller
  • Preparation of month end journals for authorization and maintaining the Nominal ledger System as per society procedures
  • Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations to prime data sources including variance analysis
  • Maintain the fixed asset register
  • Maintain accruals and prepayments schedules
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual returns to the PRA/FCA/BSA
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual returns to the Bank of England
  • Preparation of quarterly Common Reporting (COREP) and Financial Reporting (FINREP) returns
  • Identify and implement new and updated regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Support the implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) in Finance
  • Formally review and update the Risk Registers on a quarterly basis in accordance with the ERMF and Risk Champions Manual
  • Ensure Management Risk Actions and Risk Acceptances are monitored and reported in accordance with the ERMF and Risk Champions Manual
  • Promote a strong Risk Management Culture within their department
  • Submit Risk Management MI to the Risk & Compliance Department on a monthly and quarterly basis in accordance with the ERMF and Risk Champions Manual
  • Maintain a focus on risk events reporting within their department and ensure progress on open risk events, ensuring risk events are RAG rated using the ERMF Impact Matrix and escalated promptly
  • Obtain sign off on Departmental Risk MI they have prepared from their respective Executive or Departmental manager, including quarterly control attestations from their Executives as outlined in the ERMF
  • Assist cost Centre owners in setting annual budget for management expenses and semi-annual reforecast of budgets
  • Assist in the review of management expenses general ledger monthly and reallocate costs in line with those in budget
  • Assist HR with monthly headcount reconciliation process
  • Ensure salaries are prepared and processed in an accurate and timely manner together with the maintenance of effective control over payments (Wages, NIC, PAYE, pensions and other deductions) and financial control ledgers. Including:
  • Process monthly payroll
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related queries in a timely manner
  • Submission of Real Time Information to HMRC
  • Post monthly payroll and stakeholder pension journals
  • Reconcile payroll control accounts
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare payroll reports
  • Assist and support both internal and external audits
  • Authorize all Society payments
  • Work with the management and executive on Finance initiatives and process improvements where necessary
  • Support and provide relief to colleagues in Finance and to cover Financial Reporting Manager
  • Remain aware of the external and regulatory environment through amongst other things reading and understanding important bulletins, Society cascades and external bulletins
  • Carry out any other duties as may reasonably be required by management

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Undertaking revenant professional exams – minimum 1 year completion
  • Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience
  • Experience in production and preparation of management accounts
  • High proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent numerical skills
