Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-moving environment, is flexible and able to juggle multiple tasks whilst ensuring attention to detail. This is a varied role handling a broad range of queries and tasks on a daily basis, managing and supporting the team, as well as providing opportunities to innovate particularly around our ways of working. One of the main responsibilities is coordinating procedures and providing specialist advice and guidance to staff for example on human resources (HR), and health and safety. The role also involves contributing to the development of policies and processes for improving the way we work across the department. This includes communicating to staff about changes in policy and processes as well as delivering reports to the Library, Careers and Inclusivity Executive Team.

The role takes a lead in coordinating the department’s internal information (including guidance on leave, health and safety, room bookings) ensuring this information is easy to find e.g. on SharePoint, and adheres to data security guidelines. The Coordinator works closely with the Library, 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A first degree or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience
  • Broad based administrative experience in a professional or specialist service in a complex organization
  • Strong co-ordination and organizational skills with the ability to juggle and priorities tasks.
  • Experience of managing or supervising a team / project /
  • A flexible and adaptable approach
  • Experience of extracting, analyzing and interpreting data to produce reports and presenting information to others.
  • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with contacts in other departments and/or external organizations
  • Experience of handling confidential information with discretion and in accordance with data protection guidelines
  • To enjoy working in a fast paced, ever changing environment whilst ensuring attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills to establish good working relationships with senior staff and colleagues within the department and across the University
  • Excellent IT skills including experience of PowerPoint and Excel.
