Job Description

You will be responsible for supporting & driving Commercial Performance & Strategic decision making, including the target setting process, while supporting them with Financial insights and advice.

  • Ownership of Consumer Fixed P&L
  • Monthly review of performance with explanation of variances and trends
  • Review with commercial business units to understand performance issues
  • Advice on corrective actions to ensure delivery
  • Responsible for overseeing both financial and non-financial numbers and KPIs in relation to Fixed performance
  • First point of contact for Consumer Segment Lead and Segment P&L Managers
  • Proactively provide commercial insights to Consumer Director, Head of Consumer Marketing, Segment Lead and Consumer and CFO & Finance Leadership Teams for effective decision making
  • Support & shape Consumer Fixed Strategy, and drive Strategy Execution across Consumer, Finance & the business as a whole
  • Prepare, review and challenge business cases, financial appraisals and pricing reviews for new Fixed products, propositions and promotions and handset pricing,
    ensuring adherence to the governance process 
  • Finance Owner for all Product & Service Pricing & promotions across Fixed, through working with the business to determine optimal Tariff & promotional pricing, plus go-to-market investments 
  • Work with the Consumer Business Unit on commission structures for Fixed P&S across all channels, ensuring correct incentives are in place to drive the sale of
    higher value tariffs, and limit discounting 
  • Drive post investment reviews for mobile products, including full profitability analysis and prepare lessons learnt
  • Deputies for Consumer controller at sales and Consumer Leadership Team meetings and finance review meetings with CFO as required
  • Best practice sharing between Consumer and Enterprise, and involvement with Group and other OpCos to seek out best practice examples
  • Responsible for relevant Planning & Forecasting to drive business performance, mitigate risks, exploit opportunities & ensure we are on track to our medium & long term strategy.
  • Monthly high-level Rolling Forecasts, Initiative, Risks & Opportunity monthly review
  • Prepare revenue and direct cost Annual budgets, working with product managers for each product and segment, challenge assumptions and ambition level to drive revenue and margin performance
  • Build Long-Range plan financials in line with our Strategy & linked to our Budget ambitions
  • Full Exec engagement and support to segment, Consumer Director, Head of Consumer Marketing, CFO & Head of FP&A through review cycle
  • Working cross functionally to ensure the customer investment costs included in financial plans and forecasts are aligned with the organization’s distribution strategy
  • Ensuring robust & alignment Wholesale cost Reforecasts & Budgets across Finance, Consumer, Strategy & Technology teams
  • Ensuring that there is sufficient granularity in planning and forecasting models to enable effective drill-down for further analysis by major product, channel and segment and handset
  • Support & Drive the business in delivery of Fixed margin and EBITDA
  • Own and drive Consumer Fixed revenue and margin initiatives
  • Proactively drive & manage business on key pillars of profitability; such as Pricing, Credits & Discounts, Wholesale optimization etc. through relevant insights, driving action, working cross functionally, monthly business reviews & communication to senior leadership team (Consumer Director, CFO etc.)
  • Adhoc deep dive & reforecasting on material cost or revenue lines as required to get insights & drive actions
  • Rigorous & continuous assessment of Vodafone’s position vs. competitors, to ensure Optimum balance & alignment to strategy
  • Transparent assessment of financial consequences of decisions & support trade off decisions
  • Ensure Budget is linked to operational targets which are consistent across the business

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with 6+ years PQE
  • Previous Business Partnering Experience essential (4+ years) including Commercial Business Partnering experience (2+ Years)
  • Planning, forecasting and budgeting experience
  • Previous financial modelling experience
  • Excellent PC skills with proficiency in Excel front ends
  • Experience leading, driving & delivering cross functional projects
  • Understanding of telecoms market and revenue drivers
