Senior Syndicate Accountant
Job Description
Key Duties:
- To provide support to the Head of Regulatory Reporting
- To take responsibility for the preparation of regulatory returns and statutory accounts
- To design and develop robust and repeatable processes to produce the returns for those to be as streamlined as possible
- To prepare ad-hoc additional returns as and when required
- To ensure all returns are submitted in a timely manner to the appropriate committees for review and sign-off
- To liaise with external auditors and ensure returns are signed and submitted to the regulatory bodies
- To participate in shaping the development of regulatory changes
- To remain up to date with changes in regulatory reporting regime, and be responsible for the implementation of such changes in the syndicate
- To inform senior management of the impact of changes and make recommendations for corporate responses to regulatory changes
- To prepare papers for the EC / subsidiary Boards as required
- To liaise with other departments and personnel as required, including the Compliance Officer, Operations, Actuarial and other Finance staff and underwriting staff
- To research any technical issues
- To maintain procedures manuals for area of responsibility
- To discharge duties in respect of Financial Controls for the areas of responsibility
- Involvement in ad hoc projects where necessary
Qualifications required:
- Qualified accountant preferable (ACA/ACCA or equivalent)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience within the commercial insurance sector (preferably within the Lloyd’s market) Advanced excel and knowledge of word. Experience and knowledge of general ledger systems (e.g. Dynamics GP) Ability to work to tight deadlines, adapt to changing requirements and work within a team Experience in the completion of regulatory returns Experience in the production of syndicate accounts
