Job Description

You will be responsible for providing efficient, responsive and high quality technical support administration to the Environment and Community Services Department, which including Strategic Planning, Safe Strong Communities, Street Care, Resourcing & Support services.

  • You will provide administrative support to the Environmental Health and Building Control departments, responding to service and customer requests, queries, or complaints, seeing through queries and advising those involved of actions taken.
  • In this varied role, will be working within a busy, fast paced environment and will be responsible for the logging of service requests and providing timely responses to both customers and colleagues.
  • You will also undertake the processing of other duties, such as Pest Control, Public Health Funerals, and Noise complaints, queries relating to Food Registrations, dangerous structures, initial notices and building control inspection requests.
  • You will be dealing with personal, and sometimes sensitive information and will be required to input this data precisely and accurately.
  • You will work with both internal and external stakeholders, members of the public, local and parish councilors, applicants, licensees, developers, businesses, and other organizations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • You will hold an NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification or you will have experience in administration or business support.
  • It is essential that you are well organized and able to plan your work.
  • Communication is key in this role, so you must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with service users, professionals and partnership agencies using a variety of media i.e. email, phone, face to face, taking minutes etc.
  • You will demonstrate practical skills and experience in using a range of IT packages with experience in using databases, including running standard reports, analyzing data and presenting findings.
