Job Description

The role requires a dynamic individual with experience in accounting, financial modelling and budgeting, commercial decision making and a good eye for detail. Responsibilities of the role span the full cycle of accounting operations in the Company, including the management of financial records and reporting, preparation of monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasting / budgeting for the Board, preparation of annual financial statements, interacting with third-party stakeholders and producing information to support strategic decision-making.

  • The role will involve reporting directly to the Company’s CEO and will require providing support in both strategic and operational finance considerations.
  • Take an active role in day-to-day finance activities, including:
  • Full ownership of the preparation of monthly management accounts, including preparation and review of monthly bank reconciliation and accrual/prepayment journals;
  • Monitoring monthly cash flow;
  • Preparation and submission of relevant tax reporting documents (VAT3, INTRASTAT, etc.);
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance of accounts under FRS 102;
  • Payroll processing.
  • Support the CEO in developing and maintaining budgets and forecasts by building and updating financial models and projections as well as completing scenario analysis;
  • Support the CEO in the preparation of board reports and investor reports / presentations, taking ownership of the elements relating to the finances of the Company;
  • Lead the preparation of the annual financial statements and act as point of contact with external auditors;
  • Support the CEO where required on investor queries and maintain the Company’s share cap table;
  • Liaise with Company’s legal advisors in on-boarding new investors as required;
  • R&D reporting and filing; and
  • Other ad hoc tasks such as permit applications, supporting on-boarding of new staff, grant funding applications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with 2-5 years PQE in relevant finance, accounting and financial modelling roles;
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel;
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Word;
  • Strong proficiency using Google Business Apps – Sheets, Docs, Slides;
  • Experience using Xero’s accounting platform;
  • Strong FRS 102 knowledge;
  • Prior experience working in an SME or startup environment is a plus;
  • Prior experience with a VC/PE backed company or experience in fundraising, either in a corporate finance advisory role or with an in-house finance team is a plus;
  • Understanding of the gaming industry beneficial;
  • Exposure to other functional areas – HR and Legal – is a plus;
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to deal with third parties, including investors and third-party legal firms;
  • An understanding of business and financial issues;
  • Ability to work on other tasks that would typically occur in a business start-up environment;
